T Levels are an alternative to A levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent in size to 3 A levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher study or apprenticeships.

Course at a glance

The level 3 T-Level study programme is a 2 year study programme which is equivalent to 3 A-Levels, both years and all components must be completed in full in order to achieve. The study programme consists of the core units and assessments, 340 hours of external work placement (across the two years), PAD, Academic progress and employer involvement (trips/guest speakers). It is assessed by a mix of in year exams, employer set projects, synoptic assignment, research project and knowledge test (science only).

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs

at grade 4 or above, to include English, Maths and Science. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English, Maths and Science at Level 2. (a grade 5 or above in Science is required for the specialist Science pathway). To qualify for a T Level programme, you must be 16-18 years old on or before August 31st of the year you enrol.

Employer Set Project:

The employer-set project ensures students have the opportunity to combine core knowledge and skills to develop a substantial piece of work in response to an employer set brief. The employer-set project forms part of the Technical Qualification and is a separate part of the T Level programme to the Industry Placement.

 

Assessment is undertaken via a range of assessment methods including assignments, employer and external-based assignments and exams.

If you do not yet meet the full entry requirements for the T Level programme, you may be offered an alternative pathway that includes an additional foundation year to help you gain the necessary skills and knowledge.

Upon successful completion of this course, students may progress on to a Foundation or Bsc (Hons) Degree in a related animal management qualification.

Students may also go into industry related employment.

T Level Benefits:

Progression and Development Sessions

All students enrolled on a Level 2 or Level 3 course will be required to attend Progression and Development sessions every week. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics from careers and employability, British Values and equality and diversity to essential life skills such as mental health and wellbeing, drugs and alcohol and personal safety.

 

 

 

Students are to undertake an industry placement that will span 315-420 hours with a minimum of 45-60 days.

 

 

Students are encouraged to find their own work experience in a role that they are interested in. The work experience co-ordinators are on hand to help you with finding a work placement.

 

Students are expected to buy PPE, consisting of Animal Management poloshirt (and or) Hoodie and steel toe capped boots for practical sessions (Science students will also require a lab coat). Full and part PPE packs are available via the wildlife park onsite store or online store. A normal range of stationery is required for theory sessions (Science students are recommended to purchase an A4 hardback notebook for lab journals).

 

Trip costs are kept to a minimum wherever possible, trip information will be provided at the start of the course.
