The college’s Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) strategy aims to empower students to make informed decisions throughout their student experience and to broaden their horizons.

Request a Careers Appointment

All students are eligible to access a 1 to 1 careers guidance interview to discuss their future plans. This support is available for students when applying for apprenticeships, university or employment; including completing application forms and CVs. If you are a current Askham Bryan College or UCAB Student and would like a one to one careers session with one of our advisors, please book on the below link.

Or you can drop by the Student Services Hub on Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes. We can help you with deciding your next steps when you leave college, help with apprenticeships and job searching and there will be lots of events coming up in the next year – more details of these are below.

Finding Out About Jobs and Careers Events:

There is a half-termly newsletter with information on events and how to look for job vacancies as well as our Facebook page, so please keep an eye out for those.

Calendar of Career events 22/23

We have a programme of events throughout the year designed to help students develop essential skills, have meaningful encounters with employers and raise awareness of opportunities and progression options.

Tuesday 11th October at York Campus - Part-time Jobs and Volunteering Fair

Meet local employers from a variety of industries and find out about part-time vacancies and volunteering opportunities.

Tues 18th October – SEND Opportunities event

For students with special educational needs and/or disabilities this is an opportunity to meet and find out about the wide range of post 16 progression options

16th November - Speed Mock Interview Events 

A chance to develop interview skills by practising with industry professionals

W/C 20th February 2023 York Campus - HE Careers Focus Week

The focus of this week is to provide HE students with information about graduate opportunities, enhance personal development and increase professional networks.

W/C 6th March – National Careers Week

Wednesday 22nd March 2023 - Careers and Apprenticeship Fair

The Careers and Apprenticeship Fair is the largest of our planned events and aims to give students the chance to find out more about organisations offering opportunities for after they have completed their studies. The aim is to raise awareness and expand horizons by including a wide range of potential employers.
